Washington Post on American Airlines Discrimination

10/12/2018 12:00:00 AM

As a result of outreach from COA, a Washington Post columnist published a piece about how American Airlines treats US Public Health Service officers with regard to baggage check. The article appeared on 12 October 2018 and can be accessed on the COA website at http://www.coausphs.org/media/1958/article-in-the-washington-post-about-american-airline-baggage-fees-12-oct-2018.pdf . It makes the point that our concern is not about the actual fees, which are reimbursed when officers are on orders, but on the lack of respect that this demonstrates toward the USPHS Commissioned Corps. COA followed-up on the WP piece with letters to both the Chairman/CEO of American Airlines and a senior member of the American Airlines Board of Directors. These two letters can be found on the COA website at http://www.coausphs.org/media/1959/letter-to-american-airlines-12-oct-2018.pdf and http://www.coausphs.org/media/1960/letter-to-american-airlines-board-of-directors-member-12-oct-2018.pdf
